Virgin Gyms ban the pink paper to ‘protect minors’
The Pink Paper reports that it has been blocked on the Virgin Gym internet terminals so as to ‘protect minors.’ When users seek to view Pink Paper news stories they see an error message which tells them that the gym has ‘a moral obligation to parents and guardians to ensure unsuitable content is not available via our network.’ The message then goes on to explain that parents or guardians are legally responsible for monitoring which sites their kids visit, ‘it would not be acceptable for another member to be accessing unsuitable content in the vicinity of children who may be able to overlook the screen the member is using – known as shoulder surfing’.
I am almost certain that the pink paper contains less explicit sex-oriented content than the average news source. Rather I would imagine that somebody somewhere has deemed it inappropriate because of its queer orientation. Full article at the Pink Paper over here.
