Since the successful campaign to secure Dana’s release from Oakington detention centre last month, he has been tagged and living under curfew, unable even to go into his backyard for a cigarette after 8pm. However, it seems the Home Office has finally taken note of his case. Yesterday Dana was told to go down to London to provide his finger prints and iris scans. They informed him that he would have to wait 14 weeks for their decision on whether he is allowed to stay in the country. Last week, meanwhile, local Green Party councillor, Graham Elliott, was successful in convincing Mark Bee, the Conservative Leader of Waveney District Council, to take up Dana’s case. Dana’s wife, Taina, told me that local Labour MP Bob Blizzard had initially declined to help Dana when she approached him. However Bee has now written to Blizzard, agreeing to work with the MP to help resolve the issue.
