As we speak, a blanket of darkness is rolling around the Earth. No, the orcs aren’t invading from Mordor, it’s Earth Hour! That time of year when governments, businesses and hundreds of millions of people around the world make a visual protest against climate change by turning off their lights for sixty minutes. Following the wet flannel that was Copenhagen, this year’s Earth Hour is more important than ever to show the world’s leaders that though they have failed us, and the millions of people in the developing world who are already losing their lives and livlihoods to climate change, we are still watching.
Earth hour begins at 8.30pm today. Turn off, tune in, drop out…

i would just like to point out that reuben is ignorant. that will be all.
studies are still fairly inconclusive about the causes of global warming and the human effects on it, it is still a theory
in combatting global warming the pros of coarse do outweigh the cons,
but if we are truly dedicated to stopping climate change, which is a very real and human caused developement, or even cutting carbon emissions we would start by killing ourselves
the up coming fossil fuel crisis, as well as the over population crisis, insustainability of ground water projects, and maybe even fear of nuclear war, which are all set to kick in within the next century are much more real threats to the survival of society
that said though, if we can do soemthing to sort out a problem that has the potential to destroy our climate, and at the same time increase the efficiency and sustainabilty of our society that it can’t be a bad thing
“if we are truly dedicated to stopping climate change, which is a very real and human caused developement, or even cutting carbon emissions we would start by killing ourselves.”
- That sounds quite sensible Dom. If you want to go first, I’ll be right behind you. Honest…
