“Asian gangs, schoolgirls and a sinister taboo” read the ominous headline in today’s Daily Mail. Last week a gang of 9 men from Derby were convicted of really quite horrific offences involving the rape of minors. Yet, according to Daily Mail, their actions were part of a “disturbing trend few dare talk about”: namely that Asian gang members are targeting white women for rape.
Writing in the today’s Mail, journalist Sue Reid complains that “the BBC reported the Derby case repeatedly on radio with barely a mention of the fact all but one of the gang members were Asian, or the fact the vast majority of the victims — 22 of the 27 mentioned in court — were white girls.” Apparently a “controversial but relevant cultural issue” is that “Asian men of Pakistani heritage often believe white girls have low morals”"
Unfortunately for Sue, the numbers don’t quite back up her case. As she notes, 22 out of 27 of girls – 81 per cent to be precise – were white. Yet in Derby the population is 85 per cent white and just 9 per cent Asian. In other words, white girls were under-represented amongst the victims, and were, in fact, less likely to be targeted by the gang than non-whites.
The fact that other media outlets have not picked up on the racial aspect of the case is not because it is “taboo”, but because it is non-existent. This is a story of a mixed race gang – albeit majority Asian – inflicting horrendous crimes on a mixed race group of victims. The fact that most intelligent people have got over this centuries-old paranoia about immigrants defiling our daughters hardly demonstrates that political correctness has gone mad.
The Mail also carried another story today about a paedophile gang. As is typical in this age of political correctness, no mention was made of their ethnicity.
