Save Clapham Fire Station – 7Pm Monday 11th Feb. – Bread and Roses Pub.
68 Clapham Manor St, London, Greater London SW4 6DZ

On Monday 7th of February residents of South London will be meeting to oppose the closure of Clapham fire station. Clapham is one of 12 London fire stations that have been earmarked for closure as part of Boris Johnson’s package of cuts. This move will inevitably drive up response times and risk avoidable deaths, while also putting 600 jobs at risk.

The  meeting,  be held at the Bread and Roses, will be addressed by London Assembly Member Val Shawcross, Kate Hoey MP and by the Fire Brigades union.

Though the meeting has been organised by the local Labour party, the FBU, along with other local groups, have also been working to build it. If this campaign is to succeed, it is vital that we can bring together a broad coalition of groups and individuals – the kind that brought 25,000 onto the street against the closure of Lewisham A & E and arguably prevented a full=on closure. I look forward to seeing you there.
